How Much Are You Worth?
This
is
almost not a fair question to ask.
Perhaps, it would be better to ask, "how much do you think you are
worth?".
You may be wondering why I'm even
asking the
question. Surprisingly, many people don't feel good about themselves.
Rejection,
the fear of rejection and self-rejection are three of the enemy's
greatest
tools against mankind. It's because of this that people don't put much
value on
themselves. So how do we determine worth?
Steveston
is located in Richmond, which is
part of the
greater Vancouver area. Real
estate here
is some of the most expensive in the country. A simple three bedroom
bungalow
selling for one hundred and seventy-five thousand dollars elsewhere in
Canada will sell
for five
hundred thousand here in Steveston. The price of housing is crazy. It
is my
opinion that these houses are not worth it. We are living in an
inflated
market. Not everyone feels that way, because houses are "selling like
hotcakes" as the saying goes.
Is value determined
then by what people are willing to pay for it?
There is intrinsic value in some things. Houses are made of wood,
bricks and
mortar, wiring, plumbing and other stuff that costs money. As well,
houses,
cars, cell phones, clothes and all other stuff have intrinsic value,
but often can
get inflated beyond their true worth.
You are of great worth.
First, you were created by a loving God who
designed you for a specific purpose and destiny. There is no one like
you. You are unique! No one can take your place and no one can fulfill
your
destiny. You are special. There is a problem though. Satan has been
messing with
God's purpose for your life. His attack began a long time ago, and
perhaps it
has been working right up until now. We're about to put a major dent in
the
enemy's agenda.
God's Word says that if we sin we become a slave to sin. The wages of
sin is
death, but ... (We'll get to the rest in a moment). Sin brings death to
everything. Our dreams die, our destiny is thwarted, our relationships
die and most
importantly our relationship with the Lord dies and we are dead
spiritually. This is the state that God finds us in, but not the place
He brings us
to or leaves us. Here's the good part - "...but the gift of God is
eternal
life through our Lord Jesus Christ."
How much are you worth?
You are worth the life of God’s own Son!
"For God so loved the world (you)
that He gave His One and only Son, that whoever (especially you)
believes in
Him would not perish but have eternal life."
Many years ago I realized that God was interested in
relationships. He's not interested in "religion" or dead rituals. Jesus
died for you to
bring you to the Father. The Bible describes our condition as being
"afar off" and "without God in the world." That has all changed in
Jesus.
God has placed great worth on our lives!
So how does this change us? Being loved, completely forgiven, receiving
mercy and grace have a powerful effect on us. God's grace is His
transforming
power. He doesn't give us a second chance He gives us a new life. "If
any man is
in Christ he is a new creation, old things are past away, behold all
things are
become new." That's what God offers. Invite Christ to come into your
heart and
life, confess your sins, receive forgiveness and
begin to walk in the newness of life in Jesus Christ.
